Gran Vía 5

The number 5 of the Gran Vía, the Giralt building,  was designed by Eduardo Sánchez Eznarriaga in collaboration with José Monasterio; its eclectic and cosmopolitan style seeks to respond to the representation demands which were required by the upper middle-classes of the city. This rehabilitation work seeks to recover the original residential use, as well as the original image of the building, whose key elements are the two main façades, the staircase, and the three courtyards. The apartments´ living rooms and bedrooms faces the Gran Vía and the back street, Caballero de Gracia, while the rest of the areas and corridors are grouped around the aforesaid courtyards.

There is a small hall, accessible from the apartments´ entrance doors, which takes the role of a transitional element between the original design of the staircase and the contemporary language of the renovated apartments.
